News, Updates & ramblings

This Blog is acting as the news and updates page for my new website, HobbyBrush.com.

The website itself is the archive of my painting through the last decade or more, with easy navigation around what now amounts to over 3000 images of wargames figures & display miniatures.

It is also the repository for my musings, workbench notes and reports on all things gaming and miniature painting that I get up to.

I've been collecting miniatures for 24 years and have covered most scales, periods and styles in that time. Don't expect consistency on one project here - there will be variety in project, but hopefully consistently high standards!

Thanks for reading!

The Invite to terminate...

Most of you will be aware of this little "community project" from other various forums where I've been getting people involved or at least shouting about it.

If your not, the concept was simple:-
1 Hour
1 pre-primed, ready to go epic (6mm) terminator.
What can you do with it?

Painters from all over the world have had terminators from me, and they're sending them back so they can be photographed together, and under the exact same conditios as each other so we can compare the models, but also compare notes on how the pieces were completed, our painting habits and such, with an identicle reference point between all the participants.

So far I've had less than 20 returned to me, but there's more than 30 more lurking out there waiting for their current owners to have a spare hour. Hopefully we'll get to see most of those at some point.

In the mean time, facebook has taken priority for this project, and the gallery can be found here:

Thanks to all who have taken part so far, personally I'm finding it really interesting to see all the different ways people have approached the challenge - I hope the photos convey similar!

FYI - Mines the green one in the back ;)

Playing with the Coding

I'm banking on my mate Rich, who originally built this site for me, not reading this as if he does, he'll probably have a swift heart attack.....

Anyway, just a heads up really - I decided some time ago that I wanted to make the "For Sale" Page a Highlights reel instead as I never actually sold much through it - it all went through ebay!

This is all well and good and I threw down some waffle a while ago, but I'm now at the point that I'm playing with the core coding of the site to change the headers and such which the database and class files throw out.

Shouldn't be too hard, but there's always facebook as a backup should this all go wrong for a while....
