Random paint - (it's not a...) Dark Angel bust

Random paint slinging update. This is a Scibor piece which I've actually had on the go for a while now although I don't think I've ever blogged any pics of him yet. 

Still very much WIP, amd lord knows when I might finish him ( my record with finishing busts isn't great....) but I'm pleased with where he's at and still enjoying playing around with various different areas on the model. 

Let me know your thoughts and suggestions on improvements - I might ignore them, but I'm always happy to hear them :)

New Pics, For sale, and new random paint.

well, what do you know - I actually got a few models in front of decent lighting and a proper camera, we have an actual HobbyBrush update!

Not many, granted, but its a token start ;op

First up, a few more pics added to the 28mm Soviet WWII gallery. This whole section is going to need a complete reorganise soon when I add all the new bits to it, but these first ones are all for sale so got priority for good pics. IS2, SU76, T70, and a T34/85 in summer green. (9 pictures)

 The Classic Metal Cadian Squad I painted a few weeks back are going up on ebay, so they qualified for a photoshoot too - new pics in the 40K misc section (2 pictures)

A few upgraded pics added to the Warmaster Misc section - High Elf and Wood Elf Lords and Brettonian king - all painted years ago! (7 Pictures) 

The Witch Hunters Mordheim Mob uploaded to the blog earlier this week get their own gallery (11 Pictures)

New Figure alert! Completely random quick paint job on a classic old citadel foot knight. Added to the Warhammer Misc Gallery and on bay soon (2 pictures) 

And finally, there's this guy. Another random and very quick paintjob on one of the hundreds of figures I received in the Reaper Bones Kickstarter deal. Really cant decide how he should be based, and dot think I'll get back to him anytime soon, so here he is now on the Blog - welcome the ever honorable (?) Bar Tender!

Random paint - mordheim Witch hunters

The title says it all - for no reason whatsoever, I've painted a mordheim witch hunters mob. I've had the models since the days I used to paint for the GW Fanatic / specialist games studio, so over 10 years, and it was about time they got some paint!

Fun to work on, but they'll be up on eBay soon as I have no use for them. Have to get proper photos before then, but for now, I'm afraid all I can provide is dodgey lighting and ipad shots....

It's not all twilight.... Some of it is grim dark....

Yup, I've moved away from Anyaral for a little while, and as a stepping stone to my "real" project of 28mm ww2, 40k drew the attention of my brush. Can't remember the last time that happened, but a squad of Cadian IG who have been waiting over a decade for a quick lick of paint finally got what they deserved :)

Of Painting and gaming... 

Bits of this and bits of that, but nothing much of anything really! However, HobbyBrush HQ is hosting a paiting & gaming day tomorrow (Christmas eve) so more interesting waffle to come!

Of Updates and Galleries...

This is the important bit. Starting with the galleries recieving updates..

Alex Foyster's Eldar army First graced these cyber pages over a year ago. To be honest its so long ago I've forgotten. All I know is that I took updated photos way back in Spring '12 and they've been languishing in my "to do" pile since then. So Sorry mate, but here they are at long long last- beautiful work, every one of them! (21 pictures)

A little something from me for a change, but they're pictures taken when I sold the units back in 2010, so its hardly new, just more clearing out the backlogs :) My WHFB Orc and Goblin gallery gets a few almost detail shots added. (7 pictures)

Back to the wonderful work of others, and Matt Arnold (aka "Rug") returns to the ranks of Guest Galleries, this time with my arch-enemies across the table when we play Blitzkrieg Commander. These are his 6mm Germans, and yes, there is camo to be seen on the infantry! (10 pictures)

Lastly for tonight, but not for the festive season, I'm sticking with the World War 2 theme with two small galleries of my own recent work, just to prove brushes have actually been moving in my workshop over the last few months! There's a tiny little gallery which I'm looking forward to expanding, in the form of my Blitzkreig Commander Scenery (3 pictures). And there's  also some early war 15mm German armour for you to peruse, from Forged in Battle with more to come soon! (14 pictures)

Where did all the months go????

Of where I've Been...

My Computer network card / modem / something I cant fix went wrong - I've been using a borrowed laptop of 8 months now ad the "N" key doesnt work very well - get used to typos!

I Bought my first house.
It fell apart.
I put it back together.
I Costructed an awesome hobby room.
I'm back to painting at full speed and the HobbyBrush will be updated regularly once more.
I could go into more details, but you dont care do you? You just want new galleries, right? OK, OK... here goes...

Of Gaming...
Bwah ha ha... No galleries yet! But I will keep it short. I'm back playing Flames of War again and Loving it. Game I played Monday before last was one of the most enjoyable games of anything I've played in a long time.
I'm also playing Firestorm Invasion quite regularly.

All in all, you can expect American, German and F:I Terran galleries to be popping up here soon!

Of Painting...
Yes, more waffle. Deal with it.
I am ashamed to say that a combination of factors coverged upon me to mean I didn't get anything completed in time for the Dropzone Commander Launch. Its the first commitment to paint that I've ever failed upon entirely and it sucks, but was unavoidable. David hadn't paid me anything for painting the units he sent me, but I still feel bad about it - Sorry Dude!

That aside, I have taken up the Mercenary ways again since getting my new workshop sorted out and I'll be covering galleries of most of that soon.

For Myself, I'm paintig Flames of War Americans, Firestorm Invasion Terrans, a few Kraytonians for SoW and a couple of practice miniatures.

The Practice miniatures Come into two categories -
1. Airbrush work. I've finally taken the plunge and dropped a load of cash into a decent airbrush setup and am learning the ropes with that. Its great!
2. Back in June (on my Birthday as it happened!) I attended the Golem Studios Masterclass day and had the opportunity to learn from Tommie Soule, Mike McVey (yes, that one!) and Alison McVey in a full days painting. I've not learned so much in years of brushwork and whilst I'm still happy painting my huge collections and PROPER armies, I have a few practice / warm-up pieces floating about with the intentio of pushing myself to a proper display piece sometime this year.

So lots from my own benches soon :)

Old boards and Guest Galleries

It's going to be the story of the next few weeks I'm afraid - I've got a lot on, so it'll only be quick updates from me squeezed in where I can.

The good news is that we have some truly beautiful Guest Galleries Lined up ready to fill the gap!

This week, Guildford Games Clubs esteemed chairman, Eddie Turner, gets his first airing on the web, with his Guest Gallery of "Not" Blood Angels for 40K (9 pictures).

From me there's something slightly different. Its a photographic project log, split over two years, of building and then expanding the Terrain Boards for the Seeds of War Demo Games, as seen at many a show across the UK! (54 pictures).

Just a little one..

Just a little one today as I'm all over the place this weekend, but am determined to keep the updates flowing!

Of Gaming...
I Played Infinity last Monday against Eddie Turner. A finer hobbyist is hard to find, but for knowledge of Infinity we were both rather lacking - it being his second game and only the third of my own. We were both playing Ariadna however, which did help limit the special abilities a little.

He was plagued by some bad luck ("Lucky" hi sniper fell off a roof as his very first activation...) and fell foul to both our naivities when it came to terrain layout. A shooting duel erupted down one very long corridoor beween my Line Kazak with Missile Launcher (Hereafter known as "Bugs") and his Tank hunter with Autocannon (hereafter known as Elmer (Fudd) ). His autocannon came off the worse for ware, and it continued from there. I got caught in a fearful crossfire at one stage, which saw the temporary demise of "Bugs", but it all swung my way when a lucky shot took out his lieutenant, and then a mad rampage by my one painted model - the Chasseur, got lucky the following turn and took out his newly appointed replacement lieutenant!

At the end of the game, I'd lost Bugs, He'd lost over half his force, but we were both smiling so a success all round! Mores the point - rematch on Monday!

Of Painting:
There's not been much of this, but there's been loads of prepping going on for the next few "jobs". One regiment of Legionaires is ready for paint, another are cleanded & ready for assembly. I've also started to look ahead to the next project, but more on that next week!

The only painting I've completed is the 8 Auxillary Archers mentioned last update.

So, on the matter of Updates, what's new?

I've uploaded a new DRM gallery - "The 5th Race". Its all pre-release models from years back. Will they see production? Your guess is as good as mine, but they're pretty none the less! (25 Pictures)
And the second And Third Guest Galleries from my recent photoshoot at the Guildford Games Club are both up. Dan and Marks' forces were two of the main influences in me deciding to do the guest Galleries in the first place, so it seems right they should be among the first online! Small, but perfectly formed, I present the Warmachine Cryx force of Dan Gardiner (4 pictures), and the Warhammer Chaos Force of Mark Shaw (9 pictures).
